About Me

Who is Once Upon My Travel?

I’m a lover of life and full-time wanderer. I’m a foodie with an appetite for travel. When I’m not traveling, I’m thinking about it. I can’t stand raw onions and I’m afraid of spiders. I  play piano for as long as I can remember. I love my family to infinity and beyond and have a tattoo on my foot to eternalise it. I enjoy watching family guy and most of the times I really do dream in english despite it being not my first language. When I was a child I wanted to be a president. Now I just want to be happy.

My name is Rita and I am originally from Lithuania. Left home straight after graduating high school and been living in England ever since. I’m a graduate at music academy, qualified child-carer and have a bachelor degree in Law.

How does it all fit? I keep asking myself this question all the time. I think we all have choices of what to do with our lives. About three years ago I realised that I don’t have to live my life the way other people expected me to. And if I don’t decide for myself what I want to get out of it someone else will probably end up deciding for me. Over years I’ve learnt to never settle for anything less then what I want.  I always wanted to be happy, enjoy myself and explore the world, and that’s exactly why I set off traveling.

My Purpose

Many say I’m lucky I can do this. I don’t think it’s so much as luck as it is about prioritising what matters most to us. And prioritising doesn’t have to mean huge sacrifices. I always wanted to travel but had lot of things that held me back from making this decision, mainly insecurities of leaving everything behind and spending all those long life savings. I just realise that over the course of my life I can make the money back, I just can’t get the time back.
I don’t intend on writing to convince you to go travelling or advocate doing anything more than sitting on your couch and watching TV. I think you should do whatever makes you happy.

I’m the definition of slow-travel. I get to live, breathe and fall in love with every country I step foot in, rather than just get a passing glimpse of its best bits. On my site I hope to stoke your wanderlust and offer honest reviews and practical guides, filled with tips to help you make the most of your time and money.

If you would like to join me on my journey, you can follow me on a variety of social media channels.

I’d love for you to be a part of the adventure!
