The only place I’ve stopped in Costa Rica was Puerto Viejo. I know, it is a beautiful country with a huge percentage of worlds fauna but not today, not in this trip. So while in Puerto Viejo, I was advised to visit at least one national park, in the end, that’s what Costa Rica is mostly famous for. Cahuita was the closest option to do so, also rumoured to house many sloths, that are my main interest on this little visit. You can get a public bus from the ‘main’ station next to the beach, that run every hour (except Sundays, every 2hours). Round trip cost around $4. If you get off the main exit, you have to pay $8 entrance fee, but if you go till the last stop, you will get to another side of the park, where entrance is free and donation is appreciated. The only problem with this entrance is the river, which is about 1km into the jungle and can get really flooded after a good rainy night, which makes it impossible to cross over and continue to the main part of the park, in my case- to see the sloths. But knowing the unpredictability of the rain in here, I took the risk and went the free way. River was flooded, but not too much to make it impossible to cross.

Whole walk was longer then I expected and more muddy then I was hopping it to be. Overall, seen crazy terrorizing monkeys, many colourful crabs and butterflies, but no sloths! How about that?!

Never mind, it was a great day outdoors and an extreme leg workout.

Make sure to bring some water and mosquito repellent. And take monkey repellent if you have one:)
