We decided Seam Reap wasn’t our cup of tea and after 2nights grabbed the Ospreys and jumped into a night bus towards south Cambodia, more specifically- Sihanoukville,  with an idea of staying by the beach for 3/4 nights. First impression- hot, sandy beach. That’s all we needed right then. We didn’t book any hotel as it always turns out cheaper to find the hidden treasures (or not!).

Just as we walked down the beach, eyes got caught by the Serendipity bar sign ‘western staff wanted’. Out of curiosity came in, spoke to the manager, who’s actually out age, got offered free food, free accommodation and free drinks in return of “working”at the bar for the nights. Not bad! Long story short- 3 days in Serendipity beach turned out still not to end. We’ve got the best team you could ask for, brilliant parties delicious home cooked food  and great atmosphere. Day times are free and we usually spend it all together going on a fishing trips, sunbathing, sushi dates or Top Cat cinema, which is by far the best in town!

So far, I’m here for exactly 3 weeks now, as Giedre got home sick and decided to catch a plane to Vilnius for some time. No comments on that:) And I extended my visa for another month, got a paid job in Relax spa and looking forward what’s next. I need some time to get used to the idea that i’m alone on the road before heading to explore again. I guess can consider myself as living here for now. And for those, planning on visiting Sihanoukville, here are some recommendations:

Definitely visit the downtown market! AND have a massage on the beach:)

Accommodation: Big easy with cheap bungalows and food, also live music

another great place is Monkey republic

if you want something really cheap, utopia has $2 dorms but be ready for the worst, and I mean bedbugs!

Great food at sea view restaurant just next to the beach, it’s the only place that does proper coffees. Also my favourite Cafe sushi, a bit passed the lions.

Someone said all night partying?! Head to the beach. And along the way there you’ll be stopped by many flyering people. Main bars would be Serendip, Nap House, Dolphin Shack, Sessions and JJs. All of them offer free shots and drinks with a flyer. Up to you, which one you like the most but do pop in to say ‘Hello’ to Serendip- the first bar on the left at the beach;)
